Welcome to Syrian Sisters
Welcome to Syrian Sisters
We welcome refugee women from many different Arabic-speaking backgrounds including Syrian, Sudanese, Afghani and Iraqi women. Our group is a safe, welcoming space where women come together to break the cycle of social isolation, boost well-being, and support one another through shared experiences. Each week, we gather to connect, move, laugh, and talk about what truly matters, because healing and strength grow in the community.
About Us
We work from the heart and are run by and for Syrian and Arabic-speaking refugee women living in Oxford. We are a women's group tackling social isolation, physical inactivity and poor mental health. We meet each week to bring the community together and talk about what really matters to us.
This social space is vital in contributing to the wellbeing of our displaced communities, as it offers a regular, supportive space. We also run special projects, such as making handicrafts, learning together, and finding out about local services.
This social space is a lifeline for the well-being of our displaced communities. By offering a consistent, supportive environment, we create a sense of stability, connection, and hope. Beyond our weekly gatherings, we run special projects that empower and uplift-like creating beautiful handicrafts, learning new skills together, and exploring vital local services.
We proudly welcome refugee women from a wide range of Arabic-speaking backgrounds, including Syrian, Sudanese, Afghani, and Iraqi communities. No matter where your journey began, you have a place here.
